Sunderland Firearms Licensing Information
Application forms for new firearms licenses and renewal firearms licenses are available at the Sunderland Police Department and online at www.mass.gov/chsb.
An appointment may be made with the Police Clerk to begin the application process during normal business hours of 8:00am to 2:00pm.
Please allow 30 minutes for the application process.
First Time Applicants
First time applicants are required to provide the following:
- Completed application
- Submit a copy of a certificate of completion form from an approved basic firearms safety course.
- Valid drivers license
- A $100.00 non-refundable fee must be submitted along with application. Checks made out to The Town of Sunderland. (Persons 70 years old and older are FREE of charge.)
Fingerprints and photos will be taken at the time the application is submitted.
*NOTE* As stated on page two of the firearms application: “ANY PERSON WHO KNOWINGLY FILES AN APPLICATION CONTAINING FALSE INFORMATION SHALL BE PUNISHED BY A FINE OF NOT LESS THAN $500.00 NOR MORE THAN $1000.00 OR BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT LESS THAN 6 MONTHS NOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS IN A HOUSE OF CORRECTION, OR BY BOTH SUCH FINE AND IMPRISONMENT (M.G.L. c140§131).”
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ALLOW AMPLE TIME TO RENEW YOUR FIREARMS LICENSE.
Renewal Applicants
