BULK  ITEMS DISPOSAL

Through the Franklin County Solid Waste Management District, bulk items disposal is available to Sunderland residents for a nominal fee. Visit their website for BULK COLLECTION Events  which take place in May and October) and their HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION Event takes place in September but does require pre-registration) and other disposal services. These are drop off events, there is no curbside pick-up option. The GREENFIELD TRANSFER STATION also allows Bulk Item drop-off for a nominal fee as listed plus a $5 non-resident fee. Private haulers may also be contracted for bulk item removal. 

PLEASE NOTE: SUNDERLAND IS NOT ACCEPTING the following BATTERIES at the Town Offices:
  • (Nickel-cadmium (Ni-cad),
  • Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH),
  • Nickel Zinc (Ni-Zn),
  • Lithium Ion batteries (Li-ion),
  • Small Sealed Lead (Pb),
  • Button Batteries or Cell Phones)
  • ALKALINE BATTERIES are most common household batteries and those manufactured since 1994 do not contain mercury or other hazardous materials and residents throw away in regular trash. 

Sunderland is also NOT accepting Fluorescent Bulbs of any type or size and NO CFL bulbs.  You may recycle some of these items at the following locations (items must be bagged): Lowes, Home Depot or Whole Foods Market. 

TRASH & RECYCLING

Sunderland does not provide curbside trash and recycling service. Residents must contract privately with a refuse hauling company. The following company currently provides curbside pick-up services offering full service trash and recycling pick up. Please contact them directly for services specific to your needs.
