Mission Statement

The Assessors' function is to ensure full and fair market value of all real and personal property in the Town of Sunderland. The Assessors are agents of the Commissioner of Revenue.  There are 3 seats on the Board of Assessors. Each member serves for a term 3 years. All seats are elected.


NOTICE TO SUNDERLAND PROPERTY OWNERS The Sunderland Board of Assessors has completed the update of Real Estate and Personal Property valuations for Fiscal Year 2022. 

All municipalities are required to conduct a revaluation of all real and personal property every five years in accordance with Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40, Section 56. The Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) mandates the revaluation so that all properties are listed at current market value and contribute an equitable portion of the total tax burden.

Sunderland has received preliminary certification from the Department of Revenue, the proposed new values which are subject to final approval by the DOR will be available for the public to view on the Town Website https://www.townofsunderland.us/assessors-office and in the assessor’s office at the Town Hall at 12 School Street.

Taxpayers may review their proposed valuations at the Town Hall from November 17th until November 23rd during regular business hours (Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00am-4:00pm) or on the town’s website.  Taxpayers can contact the Assessor’s Office @ 413-665-1445 Mondays and Wednesdays 10:00AM-4:00PM or email assessors@townofsunderland.us with any questions or concerns.
